A few works on paper done on hot afternoons . Relaxed mark making and soft expressionism ?

Large paper November 2018
Blue accents with washed calm areas….and of course the inevitable red accent !
Mixed Emotions
Happy that this square canvas 80cm has been chosen as a finalist for North Sydney Art Prize 2019 . I have been seeing some of the other finalists and am very chuffed to be included in their ranks. Good luck little guy!!
The work speaks of the past industrial impact on the Sydney Harbour shores…. still a working harbour, but also of the efforts to rehabilitate and restore the natural beauty of the area around Waverton. The coaloader has a beautiful yet brutal air and the old docks and ramps are mysterious and intriguing.

A large revisited canvas 91×122 morphed into a salute to graffiti !
Torn pieces of paper, newsprint combined with limited colour , charcoal and acrylic paint give a layered appearance resembling a street pole used for public announcements….often beautiful and always a fascinating narrative ! Well done Bill, I say!
Red Play
I read recently that it’s sometimes disconcerting for the viewer to stand in front of a work done by an abstract expressionist! I hope so….although I would love viewers to look, enjoy and involve themselves in my work. As there is no object in my work, some people find it hard to reconcile themselves to it. This canvas
is a case in point….please just lose yourself for a minute!
Let’s Dance
This is a revisited canvas which I loved reworking whilst listening to David Bowie. I hope he’d enjoy it ! What a diverse talent he had.
Little squares 45cm
Working in smaller formats is fun sometimes! Often the simplicity achieved is difficult to transpose to a large work.
