Small paper squares 42cm

These are the result of larger unresolved papers divided into manageable parts and then reworked. I will frame and regroup them.  Sometimes I aspire to magnifying smaller works into large pieces for their simplicity.  It’s very difficult to resolve a large work with bold simple spaces whilst still maintaining some “petite vibration”, as one of my mentors says!

New Life

Reworked painting. 91cm square canvas.

This one now is more refined , I think.  Interesting tonal study.

I’ve been reading how abstractionists describe their work and influences……and also critics trying to write intelligently.  For me it’s a conversation between my brush and the surface……I seem to be the conduit who realizes that hours have passed just downloading from sources I haven’t been aware of during the conversation……   Blissful way to create.

Mercredi 1

67x102cm paper with acrylic and soft pastel. Free shape and mark making using Sennelier Citron, my favourite, with black and raw Sienna. There’s something very interesting about hues of green without using blue.
