New works for February

Some of these are reworked pieces from the past. I often find if I tire of a painting and it no longer holds my attention, something needs to change! Either the painting is not resolved or I have changed my gestural marks. I am always seeking simplicity which is difficult to achieve with vibration and content.

Large 1m square canvas

40x30cm little works

I’m thrilled to be joining Art Gallery on Darling….a collaborative gallery of 12 artists this year in Balmain, Sydney. It will be exciting to be a part of such a vibrant group with group and solo shows. Not only will I be exhibiting large works but also these little guys.

Mixed Emotions

Happy that this square canvas 80cm has been chosen as a finalist for North Sydney Art Prize 2019 . I have been seeing some of the other finalists and am very chuffed to be included in their ranks. Good luck little guy!!

The work speaks of the past industrial impact on the Sydney Harbour shores…. still a working harbour, but also of the efforts to rehabilitate and restore the natural beauty of the area around Waverton. The coaloader has a beautiful yet brutal air and the old docks and ramps are mysterious and intriguing.
