Fire and Rain
My humble entry to the Wynne Prize, 2019
This piece speaks of the brutal climate in Australia which takes its toll , increasingly.
82×107 on canvas.
Droughtbreaker
A large framed canvas 94x125cm . Mixed media….collage, acrylic and pastel.
I am very pleased to be part of Art Gallery On Darling which is an artists’ run initiative at 307 Darling Street, Balmain. 12 Australian female artists doing their thing….
3 large works on paper
I have slightly reworked these over a period of months until we were in agreement !
Subtle changes have a great impact sometimes and the need to change some small trace or mark doesn’t always come immediately. …. the fun of painting ! I firmly believe our external influences impact us in ways we don’t comprehend but for artists, the manifestation is in their work.

3 large works on paper
Begun in France last September and finally resolved at home. I tend to paint quickly initially with great freedom and then slow down with a deeper conversation necessary between the paper and me!! Sometimes we agree and usually end up friends….Resolving a work is very tricky thing. One should never aim to finish a painting from the outset ….. the joy is in the process!

Large work on paper with collage
Begun in Villeherviers and finessed at home. Unusual pink flash for me ! I am happy with the freedom and unselfconsciousness of this piece. Sometimes the conversation between brush and paper goes without issue….other times, not .
A valuable lesson I learnt years ago was ‘don’t try to finish a work….do not seek a solution’
Mudgee Road series
4 large works now complete . Browns, greens, greys and ochre reflect the changing landscape between Sydney and beautiful Mudgee. Such a beautiful part of NSW. It would be great if at least 2 of these remain friends forever on a wall somewhere. I often feel my painting form a narrative together. Framed measurement 92x126cm apart from square (94cm square…first work)

Bold large work on paper… untitled as yet
A large paper 73×77 (handmade paper from the Kangaroo Valley) with collage, acrylic and a bit of madness !! I do like this one.
Still life… as close as I get to flowers in a painting!
Somehow these shapes appeared today and I went with it… Usually I avoid subjects or they don’t occur to me but maybe the suggestion of a leaf and use of green was too much to resist. A painting is a conversation between brush and surface so maybe the subject was botanical today.

Second new work for February
Large canvas 92×121
